But I’ll be damned if I am going to try to live in the internet era while illiterate. Over the last two days I jumped back in to my attempt at creating a portfolio site of myself from scratch. As much as I live the usability of this template, I’m beginning to feel restricted by it. The goal is to have a site that shows my work, is my work, and expresses my attitude and talent through its functionality.

I started with a simple landing page with a navigation bar, starting from scratch rather than a template so I understood the importance of every line I was writing. Currently the links don’t go anywhere but I’m really happy with it as a start and as an exercise in some structural css that doesn’t look like something from 1997. I’m also pretty proud of myself for figuring out the @font face css to use a nonstandard font for my links without resorting to .png files. To keep it in the 21 century my next plan is to make the functional template for the site. I’ve mocked it up here and have a really good idea of how I want it to work.

I’m not sure how possible it is but it will certainly be a learning experience. Being that I’m stumbling through the dark on this one, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’m not sure how regularly I’m going to be updating my blog here in the next week or so. I might be moving up to Mammoth as early as next week so between that and getting settled in to this internship I’m probably going to have to put my personal stuff on the back burner. Thanks to all the readers, hope to see you again soon.
