About a month ago a subreddit called 52weeksofdesign popped up on the popular message board www.reddit.com. I was onboard from the get go but without a reliable internet connection it’s been hard to keep up. I have 4 of the first 5 weeks done and I’m hoping that will help me catch up/keep up and post one here a week for as long as the mods keep it going.
Week 1: Logo Redesign
The premise was simple, take a well-known logo and rework it. I decided to go for Tesla Motors. Their current logo works for the sports car they currently have, but it has several flaws. First, if they really are going to be the car company of the future they are going to eventually move to units real people can buy. Second, every time I’ve seen one my first thought was damn that’s a quiet lotus, no wait, what the hell car is that. The current branding effort is not visible at a distance. The hope is my design is a bit more family friendly, play with the namesake of the brand and more recognizable from a distance.
