52 Weeks of Design: Week 5

UPDATE: I moved the type around a bit and made this poster available on my Society6 Shop

Task: You challenge this week is to design an image to display your favourite quote, whilst using at least three different fonts.

Make sure to keep an eye on the legibility of your quote, and choose colours which reflect the mood of your chosen quote.

For week 5 I decided to get a little crazy with the layout.  I don’t think it impacted the readability, but that could be because I stared at it for so long.  Anyway, I really like how this turned out and I might get it printed here in mammoth.  If others would be interested email me at blake.smisko@gmail.com and I’ll change it from a personal one off to a limited edition glecee set, signed and numbered and all that.

Also big thanks to the person that bought a print of my Arrakis travel poster!

  1. Nice…excellent quote. Legibility was a little difficult for me, but I think there is a quick and easy fix, if you’re interested. All the words on the left side are spaced equally apart from each other…I think if you spaced the words that go with each other together a bit more, it would really help (e.g. “it will” and “in the”). I noticed my eyes moving to the bigger words after reading only one of the smaller on the right, when I should have read two. Does that make sense?
