Task:
This weeks challenge is to design a brand identity and a line of stationary (business cards, letterheads, compliment sheets) for a royal family somewhere in the world.
Presidents and prime ministers are not exempt. For example you could try Emperor Obama or Lord Romney (II)
As you can see, I decided to brand Leif Ericson. Viking explorer and, thanks to my designs, possible professional sports franchise. I had fun with this, initially trying to integrate some kind of Nordic symbols into the pattern behind his initials. As it became more complicated I just kind of let it do it’s own thing while keeping symmetry. It was a bit tricky to get it to work in black and white, but I absolutely needed to do it since that is one of the best and easiest tests of good iconography. My only issue is that the Ranger font I used has some scaling issues when I saved it a 72 dpi.
